Crafted Spaces Kids Creative Summer Camp 2019
Crafted Spaces has been hosting a kids creative camp for eight years now. This year our camp will run during the last three weeks of July.
Crafted Spaces Kids Creative Summer Camp, offers a variety of sewing and craft camps for children ages 6 to 17 years old. All of our camp activities are held in Shanty Bay, Oro-Medonte, Ontario. Click the links below for a description of each camp and view our dates and rates. Register for a camp by completing our online registration or register in-person at our studio. Carefully read and review the description for each camp before registering.
A group discount is available if you are registering 2+ children or if you are part of a wider group with 2+ children. Members of a group can register individually; however, you must contact us for more information regarding group discounts. If you require an earlier drop-off or later pick-up time, please contact us prior to completing your registration. Please note that all the information you provide is kept private and online credit card payments are processed using PayPal. Registration is open for Summer 2019
Campers will learn how to sew with several fun, kid friendly sewing projects throughout the week. Projects may include designing and sewing a tote bag, envelope pillow, donut pillow, pj’s or summer clothing. Kids will learn how to use commercial sewing patterns and build hand and machine sewing skills. Campers will also explore the basics of hand embroidery and learn different ways of embellishing their projects. Some prior sewing experience is an asset, but is not required. This camp is for kids ages 6 – 17.
Stitched By Hand
This fun day camp is centred on the art of hand sewing. Campers will select from different kits to make fun projects. They will learn basic embroidery stitches and hand sewing techniques. The projects are based on age. This day camp is for kids ages 6-17. Some prior sewing experience is an asset, but not required.
Campers will spend the time exploring natural dyes taken from local plants and produce. They will create a dye bath and dye natural fibres that can be used for sewing and craft projects. Register for this camp on its’ own or in combination with our knitting camp, where kids can use their own natural dyed yarn to knit a project. This camp is for kids ages 8 -17.
This weaving day camp teaches kids about the art of weaving. Kids will learn how to weave on a small loom to create a wall hanging. Campers can select from various yarn and fibres to create their original art piece. This camp is for kids ages 8 -17.
This summer day camp will introduce kids to the basics of knitting. They will make a knitted project and gain a great new hobby. This camp is for kids ages 6 -17.
Campers will spend the day exploring art and creating with paper. Kids will learn various techniques for working with paper and make fun paper art and craft projects. They will explore paints, stamps, punches and other paper crafting tools. This camp is for kids ages 6 -17.
Kids will learn how to take beautiful photographs while exploring the world around them. This is a day spent exploring the art of photography and introducing children to view the world from a different perspective. This camp is recommended for kids 11 to 17.
What will be provided . . .
All the materials needed for the camp activities are included in your registration. Your registration also includes the use of all tools and equipment needed. We also provide some refreshments, but ask that to pack a peanut free lunch for your child.
How you can prepare for camp
You are welcome to bring our own sewing machine and other crafting tools. If you have a sewing machine, please ensure that it is in good working order. You may also bring any craft projects you will like to share with us.
What you need to bring
Please bring along any dietary required foods. Some activities may take place outdoors, so pack weather appropriate clothing, comfortable shoes, sunscreen and a hat.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
There are no additional fees for an early drop-off or later pick-up. However, we ask that you make arrangements prior to registering and that you include an additional snack if needed. Please note that camp activities will only take place during the specified times.
Please ensure that all relevant medical information (including allergies) and contact details are provided for your child, in the case of an emergency. All medical conditions must be discussed prior to registering.
We will like to ensure that each child has a positive experience and ask that prior to registering parents inform us of any concerns they may have regarding their child’s attendance at our camp.
