This four-day natural dyeing online class is an introduction to dyeing natural fibres with natural dyestuff (botanicals). You will learn how to harvest plants and collect other organic materials that will yield excellent colours in the natural dye pot. You will also learn how to achieve a range of colours from a source.
Students will create a natural dyed project.
During the four days we will create dye baths and experiment with colour combinations. We will also use mordants and modifiers. You will create a dye journal with swatches and samples. A selection of natural fibres (silk, cotton, linen, wool and bamboo) is included in the class kit for your samples. You will learn everything you need to know to continue your exploration into natural dyes. Students are welcome to use their own materials or projects (please contact us for details).
Materials kit is included; however, additional supplies will be required. Curb side pick up or Canada Post shipping is available for the kit and will be scheduled at the start of the class. Please note that shipping and handling cost are billed separately, based on Canada Post rates.
