This one-day workshop is an introduction to dyeing natural fibre yarns with natural non-toxic materials. Students will be working partially outside if the weather permits. You will learn how to harvest plants and flowers that will yield excellent colours in the dye pot. You will also leave with recipes, a dye journal and one skein of wool yarn.

Description

This one-day Natural Dyed Yarn workshop is an introduction to dyeing natural fibre yarns (wool, linen, silk, and bamboo) with natural non-toxic materials. Students will be working partially outside if the weather permits. You will learn how to harvest plants and flowers that will yield excellent colours in the dye pot.

We will experiment with colour combinations, mordants and a selection of plant materials.

You will receive one skein of wool yarn and will create a dye journal with swatches and samples. Additional wool will be available for purchase.

Students will learn everything they need to know to continue their exploration into natural dyes.
